Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine barriers to quality education in selected rural secondary schools, from the rural secondary school teachers’ perspective. The qualitative research paradigm was adopted and a case study design was preferred. Rural secondary school teachers in the area under study were targeted as the population and a sample of 20 (n=20) teachers from 4 secondary schools randomly selected from the rural part of the district was utilised to accomplish the study. The Convenience sampling method was used in selecting the participants. Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) were preferred as the research technique while FGD guides were used as the instruments to gather data. Consistent with qualitative inquiries, the researchers were the primary mediums through which data was generated.
