Abstract
A possible relationship between periodontal disease and osteoporosis has been elicited in various cross sectional and longitudinal studies. Osteoporosis is an age related condition which results in decrease in bone mineral content and structural changes are seen in bone. Post menopausal women are more prone to osteoporosis due to deficiency in estrogen, which in turn causes decrease in mandibular bone mineral content. Hence this article presents a review in relation to association between osteoporosis and periodontal disease.
