Abstract
“Pheneol” (containing coal tar acid, phenolic compounds and coal tar oil) is a common household floor cleaner (pesticide / bactericide / fungicide) used in India, with number of reports concerning its human toxicity. We present a case of middle aged woman presented with suicidal oral ingestion of phenol, manifested with Methemoglobinemia, followed by administration of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and rapid recovery.
