Abstract
The prevalence of hyponatremia in the intensive care unit varies according to the studies. We conducted a retrospective study of 258 cases, including patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the ARRAZI hospital of MARRAKECH. Hyponatremia is frequent in our department and often encountered in elderly patients with comorbidities, admitted for pathologies with neurological, infectious or respiratory manifestations. Their management includes symptomatic and etiological treatment. The prognosis of hyponatremia in the ICU is unfortunate given the high mortality rate recorded in our department. Cautious correction is necessary as well as rapid management before admission to the intensive care unit if it is detected earlier in order to lower the mortality rate.
