Abstract
Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a systemic inflammatory vasculitis of large and medium-sized vessels. The involvement of large vessels is most commonly affects in the subclavian and axillary arteries. The systemic reaction is characterized by non-specific symptoms such as weight loss and increased level of inflammatory proteins. We report a case of GCA without increased level of inflammatory proteins. An echodoppler of the right temporal artery showed a dilation of the right temporal artery. The temporal artery biopsy revealed granulomatous vasculitis epithelioma. A CT angiography showed wall thickening with dilation of ascending aorta. The patient was treated with steroids and antiplatelet therapy and he showed clinical improvement. We emphasize through this case study the possibility of having ACG without increased level of inflammatory proteins.
