Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between animals and people. It is a group of highly diverse single stranded RNA virus. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the 2019–20 coronavirus outbreak a pandemic and a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).
