Abstract
Subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) may be associated with increased risk of Coronary Artery Disease and various biochemical abnormalities like dyslipidemia, increased LDL-C levels, increased total cholesterol and serum triglyceride values. The present study was aimed to determine lipid abnormalities in patients with subclinical hypothyroidism and its association with thyroid profile. The present case control study was conducted in 50 patients aged from 18 to 65 years (25 subclinical hypothyroidism cases and 25 euthyroid controls. T3, T4, TSH was assessed by using semi- automated Chemiluminessence immunoenzymometric assay, lipid profile was done using autoanalyzer. Data was analysed using SPS SOFTWARE. The mean Cholesterol levels (276.1+73.56), mean LDL- cholesterol levels (191.7 +72.5), mean triglyceride levels (156.64+45.38) were increased in Sub Clinical Hypothyroidism cases compared to control groups. Our study shows that TSH levels were positively correlated with cholesterol, LDL and negatively with HDL in patients with Subclinical hypothyroidism.
