Abstract
The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘Yuj’, means ‘to join’ or ‘to yoke’ or ‘to unite’. Yoga is essentially a spiritual discipline based on an extremely subtle science, which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. It is a science and art of healthy living. Geography is a science of time and space, which is highly related to mind and body. That is why the geographical knowledge can be accurately enhanced through joining of body and mind. The period between 800 A.D. - 1700 A.D. has been recognized as the Post Classical period and the period between 1700 - 1900 A.D. is considered as Modern period in which the great Yogacharyas- Ramana Maharshi, Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Paramhansa Yogananda, Vivekananda etc. were there.
