Abstract
The evidence implies that bazaar is one of the cultural and social places in Iranian society and among different ethnic groups and cultures. It is important to consider this striking place which has been the concourse of people from past to present and it has retained its role among the people. Also, it has retained its role and effect on people’s lives despite the existence of virtual and online markets in today’s world. In this paper, it was tried to historically investigate the evolution of the bazaar phenomenon and its different economic, cultural and social functions through library method with a descriptive approach in order to examine its positive role or negative consequences, especially the level of its effectiveness in the public culture of Iranian people by clarifying its evolution in numerous historical periods.
