Abstract
This study examined occupational self-efficacy as antecedents of organizational commitment among Ajaokuta Steel Company workers in Ajaokuta, Kogi State were investigated in this study. One hundred and eighty-nine (189) participants were used in the study. The instruments used to collect data for the study were Occupational Self-Efficacy Scale (OSES) (Pethe, Chaudhari & Dhar, 1999) and Occupational Commitment Scale (OCS) (Meyer and Allen, 1990). .A cross sectional design was adopted for the study. Regression analysis was used to analyze the data and statistical package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20 was employed in the data analysis. The finding indicated that occupational self-efficacy was a significant determinant of organisational commitment. This implies that an employee who has high self-efficacy is likely to have a high level of commitment towards his/her organization. It is recommended that organizations should give attention to workers occupational self-efficacy.
