Abstract
The contribution of this communication consists in analysing the social irregularities of the introduction of the mining industry in the Didoko sub-prefecture. The study is based on an essentially qualitative approach with appropriate investigative tools and analyses this social fact through Alain Touraine's theory of social change (1965). This study arrives at the result that: The discourse of mining operators is part of a vision of the social and economic development of populations, while the people living near mining sites have a symbolic and cultural relationship with the land. The residents refer to the practice of mining in two ways: on the one hand, the land is sacred and could not be destroyed. On the other hand, land is a source of income for the individual's survival.
