Abstract
Sorghum is the fifth most important cereal crop globally, with multiple uses including food, feed, fiber, brewing and bio-energy feedstocks. With the increasing frequency of extreme weather events globally, the risk of sorghum suffering from drought stress is increasing, leading to reduced sorghum yields. This study summarized the effects of drought stress on sorghum growth, discussed the response mechanisms of sorghum to drought stress from stomatal regulation, osmotic regulation and antioxidant defense system regulation, and explored the pathways to enhance sorghum's drought resistance.
