Abstract
A mass balance calculation for active pharmaceutical substances subjected to chemical stress was performed using oxidized nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) as an example. Calculations were carried out for low, moderate, and extensive degradation of NAD+ induced by basic hydrolysis. The applicability of using the mass balance as a criterion for the reliability of an analytical method is discussed.
