Abstract
This article explores the functions of language in the speech of Great Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II during the trying times of coronavirus. The purpose to achieve is to disclose how, through language and her choice of words, Queen Elizabeth II addresses her people about covid19 Using the Hallidayan approach, the analysis is premised on the speech delivered by Queen Elisabeth II on the 5th April 2020. It is found that Coronavirus pandemic influences the use of language by Queen Elizabeth II. Throughout her speech, she reveals the difficulties of the time and has some encouragement words toward her citizens.
