The deployment of social networking sites in university libraries has changed the way information is disseminated and used by members of the university community. The use of new technologies like Facebook, Blogs, Twitter, Wikis, Flicker, Microblogs, Chat and Podcast have become essential tools for information dissemination in academic Libraries. However, in other for libraries to remain relevant in this ICT driven environment, the use of social media for information service delivery becomes useful. This paper therefore examine the use facebook for information service delivery in academic libraries, focusing on the concept of facebook, importance of facebook in academic libraries, advantages of facebook, conclusion and recommendations.
