The present paper documents the use of medicinal plants in the folklore medicine of the Sonowal Kachari tribe of Assam. Intensive field research was conducted during January-February’ 2014 in two Sonowal Kachari inhabited villages - Boiragimath Kachari gaon and Puroni Bhorali in Dibrugarh district. Personal interviews and in-depth discussions were held with the traditional healers to generate information on medicinal plants used in the treatment of various diseases. A total of 21 medicinal plants belonging to 18 families were recorded along with their local names, parts used, method of medicine preparation and administration. Further pharmacological studied of the documented medicinal plants may lead to the discovery and development of new drugs to treat human diseases.
