The design of a plant for the production of 72,000 tonnes per year of 2-ethylhexanol was considered in this work. The unit operations considered in the plant was separator; reactor and distillation column, the design models for the separator, plug flow reactor and distillation column are presented. The process flow diagram showing the unit operations was designed and simulated with Aspen Hysys and MS Excel used for the plotting of results. The plug flow reactor was designed with fractional conversion, xA = 0.99 for volume of reactor = 2.5 x 10-5 m3, diameter of reactor = 0.02539m, length of reactor = 0.05078m, space time = 5.76 x 10-6hr, space velocity = 173711.6hr-1, heat generated per unit volume = -5.61 x106KJ and pressure drop = 2.61 x 10-10Pa. Diameter of distillation column = 1.473192m, distillation column down comer area = 0.204545 m2 and distillation column weir length = 1.119626m while separator had the following parameter; area of packed bed column = 4.440853m2, diameter = 2.377871m and height = 31.66393m. The values of a design parameters of the plug flow reactor, distillation column and separator showed optimum results and reliable based on standard specification.

In this paper, the acoustic emission instrument is used to collect the signal emitted by the steel pipe when it is damaged in electrochemical corrosion. Through the analysis and processing of the collected waveform signal data, the change law of the energy and effective voltage value of the steel pipe corrosion damage is obtained. It is found that the closer the sensor is to the serious corrosion area of the steel pipe, the more the number of impact, energy and effective voltage values is collected. The real-time dynamic detection of the steel pipe corrosion damage development process is realized. The results show that the acoustic emission technology can be used to detect the corrosion damage of steel pipe accurately.

This study investigated the effect of peer tutoring instructional strategy and senior Secondary school Computer Studies students’ academic achievement in Enugu State, Nigeria. The study employed a non equivalent control group quasi experimental design. The sample for the study comprised of seventy eight (78) Senior Secondary School II (SS II) students drawn from two co-education schools in Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria. Two research questions and two null hypotheses tested at 0.05 level of significance guided the study. Computer Studies Achievement Test (CSAT) with a reliability coefficient of 0.75 using KR-20 was adopted for this study. The instrument was duly validated. Mean, Standard Deviation and ANCOVA statistic was used to answer the research questions and test the research hypotheses respectively. The results revealed that students taught Computer Studies using reciprocal peer tutoring instructional strategy recorded higher achievement than those taught using conventional method (lecture method). Female students taught Computer Studies using reciprocal peer instructional strategy obtained slightly higher mean score than male students. Again, there is a significant difference in Computer Studies academic achievement between students who are taught using reciprocal peer tutoring instructional strategy and those taught using conventional method (lecture method). And, there is no significant difference in Computer Studies academic achievement between male and female students taught using reciprocal peer tutoring instructional strategy. The recommendations among others are:- There should be training and retraining of teachers through seminar and workshops organized by schools, non-government organization and ministries of education to aid the teacher’s acquire and adopt students centered approach in teaching to improve the student’s academic achievement in Computer Studies.
